Osterman Propane Takes Balloon Festival to New Heights

Whitinsville, Mass. – June 9, 2006 – Osterman Propane is proud to announce that it is the official Propane supplier for the Big Y 70th Anniversary Balloon & Music Festival, June 9-11, 2006 at the Eastern States Exposition.

Osterman Propane will be fueling up to 50 hot air balloons during the festival including daily launches as well as several balloons which will be offering tethered rides throughout the day. Opening ceremonies on Friday will also feature a nighttime balloon glow as anchored balloons light their burners and illuminate the fairgrounds.

Did you know?

• A hot air balloon can use anywhere from 20 - 80 gallons of Propane during a ride.
• The high-powered propane burners on a balloon are capable of producing up to 12 million BTU's of heat. (A gas cooking stove is around 40,000 BTU's).
• One burner produces enough heat per hour to heat 120 three-bedroom homes comfortably
• The burner produces a flame that is 6 to 8 feet long.
